  13.     Here's the deal.  You send a sawbuck (ten dollars American) and a
  14. proper name to the address at the end of this file.  Upon receiving the
  15. consideration you will be contacted through the same BBS or mail if desired.
  16. If you want to use a credit card, the fee is sixteen dollars.  The return
  17. message will contain an identification number.  Standard site license fees
  18. are $50 for 10 PCs to $300 for an unlimited number of PCs.

  38.     The name and ID number are entered into the nagware dialog box.
  39. The name and ID number are added to the "notebook.ini" information which
  40. sits in the "windows" sub-tree.  "Notebook" will run without the nagware
  41. display when the "ini" file contains a proper name and ID number match.
  42. The proper name will appear in the title bar at program start.
  43.  
  44.     The matching name and ID number will work in possible minor version
  45. number upgrades containing minor fixes or improvements to "Notebook".

  48. *    The first "beta" version was incomplete and should be discarded.

  50.     Beta2 was correct but contained a non-fatal unsaved document print
  51. bug that was fixed in the beta3 version.
  52.  
  53.     Beta3 added word wrap and a page margin setup facility.

  55.     Beta4 added case sense selective searches and command line parameter
  56. associative file opening.

  58.     Beta5 added title and page number output to the print spooler,
  59. searches that scan the entire document in one operation to go to a line
  60. number and/or find text, and a direct go to end of document feature.

  62.     Beta6 added a replace feature to be used with search.  Also an
  63. intermittently fatal bug in backward searches through huge documents has been
  64. fixed.  And a non-fatal word wrap mode bug in go to end of a huge document
  65. has been fixed.

  67.     Version 1.0 added a file run with association menu item, a modifiable
  68. title output to the print spooler, and proper size and initial position of
  69. the position box on an 800x600 display.

  71.     Version 1.1 added default filespec enhancement to the Open and Run
  72. dialog boxes.  Also if the display driver sets a larger height for the menu
  73. bar to accommodate 8514 fonts, then larger (26 pixels high) push button
  74. menu items are shown.  A non-fatal bug of line count after a huge forward
  75. search was fixed.  Finally, a powerful automatic find and replace function
  76. was added.

  78.     Version 1.2 fixed a non-fatal bug in the automatic replace all
  79. command.  An icon file was included for better contrast on monochrome
  80. displays.

  82.     Version 1.3 fixed a fatal memory allocation bug that showed up when
  83. operating in stressed disk swapping situations.  Also the maximum number of
  84. characters on a line is limited to 1024.
  85.  
  86.     Version 1.4 added a file merge function to allow the insertion of a
  87. text file anywhere into the current document.  File open and file merge can
  88. insert carriage return line feed pairs as necessary to format the document.

  90.     Version 1.5 fixed a fatal local memory allocation bug that showed up
  91. if Notebook was minimized when in word wrap mode with a file larger than 20
  92. kilobytes loaded.  Also a non-fatal global allocation bug on associative file
  93. open in word wrap mode was fixed to allow a file of any size to be completely
  94. read in word wrap mode.

  96.     Version 1.6 added word wrapped output to the print spooler, tab-stop
  97. spacing became user selectable, and a bookmark function.  Also a non-fatal
  98. backward scroll display bug was fixed.
  99.  
  100.     Version 1.7 added the editing of control codes, the copying of text
  101. from the main edit window to the search or replace buffers, and the scrolling
  102. through text fields by keystroke.
  103.  
  104.     Version 1.8 added an extended file delete function with confirmation,
  105. an edit select all function with the capability of huge copy, cut, paste,
  106. delete and undo operations, and a file merge that can be undone.  Changes in
  107. the edit control code function eliminated an unshared tight loop during the
  108. translations and allowed a keyboard escape.  Also a fatal defect in canceling
  109. printer output to a file was fixed.
  110.  
  111.     Version 1.9 added an initial size and position feature to allow the
  112. beginning Notebook window size and position to be user defined.  A replace
  113. all function defect that showed up with documents larger than 64k if the
  114. replace string was bigger than the find string was repaired.  A repeated
  115. find function defect of truncating the find and replace strings to fifteen
  116. characters was also fixed.

  118.     Version 1.A added a File Print Selection command to allow selected
  119. text of the document to be sent to the print spooler.  The File Print All
  120. command sends the entire document to the print spooler.  The possibility of
  121. sending two consecutive NEWFRAME type Escapes to the printer driver which
  122. caused the printer to abort task was eliminated.  A defect of printing the
  123. page number of the last page one line too low was fixed.
  124.  
  125.     Version 1.B added a two-sided print function to halve paper demand.
  126. The Go To dialog box was changed from modal type to modeless which means the
  127. dialog box stays open during main window operations.  Find and replace
  128. history was added to the Go To dialog box with new combo box controls.
  129. A Replace push button was added to the modeless Go To dialog box to allow
  130. continuous find and replace action by push button.  A file extension list box
  131. was added to the open, delete, merge and run dialog boxes.
  132.  
  133.     Notebook 1.C allows binary files to be opened.  In this case the
  134. memory image is converted to text format, and file saving is disabled to
  135. protect the binary file format.  The text can be edited, sent to the
  136. clipboard and pasted into the destination text file.  This process allows
  137. extraction of text from word processor documents, spreadsheets, executables,
  138. etcetera.  Set Find, Set Replace and Line # push buttons are added to the Go
  139. To dialog box.  Set Find and Set Replace buttons allow selected text to be
  140. copied to their respective buffers.  If no text is selected, then the buttons
  141. clear the buffers.  The Line # button clears the line number entry.  The find
  142. and replace buffers are extended to hold 63 characters each.  An endless loop
  143. defect upon go to end of file in an unlikely circumstance is fixed.  When
  144. Notebook is shown as an icon at Windows initialization, the Line Size dialog
  145. box will not show.  To avoid defects in Win30 and Win31 when in word wrap
  146. mode, the document is unwrapped when minimized then wrapped when restored.

  148.     Notebook.exe is bundled with a help file called notebook.hlp,
  149. several useful icon files including one for black and white displays called
  150. notebkbw.ico, and this file called noteinfo.  This is Notebook version 1.C
  151. which has the label "1.C" right aligned on the menu bar.
